Need a little something to get you in the holiday spirit? ‘A Very SUSPENSE-ful Christmas’ premieres this weekend on various radio stations…but you can catch one of the three stories from it right now! This segment, ‘Have a Hacking, Whacking Christmas’, starring Rick Federman, Camden Singer, Rocky Cerda, Deneen Melody, Steve Moulton, Christina Nicholls and Vida Ghaffari as the sarcastic Chloe. This episode of the three time Peabody award nominated series was recorded at Melrose Music at Raleigh Studios and produced by Blue Hours Productions. Blue Hours Productions was created by John C. Alsedek with his business partner Dana Perry-Hayes. Suspense is a revival of the classic Golden Age radio anthology series, which ran from 1942-1962 and even aired on CBS television for 5 years. Some of the early scripts were adapted from Suspense radio scripts, while others were original for television. Like the radio program, many scripts were adaptations of literary classics by well-known authors. Classic authors such as Edgar Allan Poe, Agatha Christie, and Charles Dickens all had stories adapted for the series, while contemporary authors such as Roald Dahl and Gore Vidal also contributed. Many notable actors appeared on the program, including Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, Cary Grant, Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, Lucille Ball, James Stewart, Vincent Price, Cloris Leachman, Brian Keith, Franchot Tone, Robert Emhardt, Leslie Nielsen, Lloyd Bridges, and many more. “Suspense has already proven itself to be a worthy successor to the original show. Featuring all-new scripts done in a similar style, it has nonetheless forged its own identity; ‘Suspense has aired on more than 250 radio stations worldwide including the popular Sirius XM satellite radio. The new series has attracted name stars such as Robert Picardo, Tony Dow (Leave it To Beaver), Dave Foley, Mel Novak (Bruce Lee’s Game of Death), Aki Aleong (The Quest), Lee Meriwether, Ellen Dubin (Napoleon Dynamite), Marilyn Ghigliotti (Clerks), Drake Bell (Drake and Josh), David Blue (Ugly Betty) and Paul Petersen (The Donna Reed Show). The show is currently in it’s fourth of seven season. Some of the airdates and times for this segment are KIXI in Seattle (Sunday, Jan. 31 at 9pm), KPFA in Berkeley (Sunday, Jan. 31 at 9pm), and KQV in Pittsburgh (Saturday, January 30 at 9pm).
