Samantha Kolesnik and Vanessa Ionta Wright, life-long fans of the horror genre, have launched The Women in Horror Film Festival, a grand celebration and showcase of the talented women in genre filmmaking and screenwriting. The festival will take place at the beautiful Crowne Plaza Hotel and Convention Center in Peachtree City, GA. The fest will be a weekend-long extravaganza from September 21-24, featuring amazing and terrifying films, special guests, book signings, genre vendors, exclusive parties, and lots of fun!

The Women in Horror Film Festival is currently open for submissions! We are looking for short films, feature films, short screenplays, and feature-length screenplays in both the horror and science fiction genres. All submissions can be made via FilmFreeway at: https://filmfreeway.com/festival/WIHFF.

All winners of our nineteen categories will receive a custom Women in Horror Film Festival trophy, in addition to many other great prizes. Our feature film finalists will be considered for distribution by Terror Films, who recently expanded its distribution channels to 15 different countries! Our screenplay winners will receive the ground-breaking StoryO software from Jungle Software. And our winner of the short screenplay category will also receive a complimentary course of their choice from Screenwriters University. The winner of Best Student Film will receive a $300 film grant to be used toward the filmmaker’s next film project. Feature screenplay finalists will receive a copy of the Hollywood Screenwriters Directory from The Writers Store. Many more prizes are in the works and will be announced soon!

All submitted films and screenplays will be carefully considered by an independent panel of talented judges, including Hannah Neurotica (founder of Women in Horror Month), April Bedan (Fangoria Musick Manager), Melissa Hannon (founder of HorrorGeekLife.com), Tanya Chuturkova (writer, director, and producer), Kevin Peterson (owner of Pure Grain Productions), Terri Adams (line producer and experienced film judge), and Brandon Taylor (film director and co-owner of Hollow Tree Films).

Tickets to the festival are available via our website here. Interested horror and science fiction vendors, authors, and artists may also reserve table space. Tables will sell out, so interested parties should reserve ASAP.
