Founded in 2012, Horror-Fix is an independent horror publication dedicated to the movies, filmmakers, stories, and culture that keep the genre alive.
For more than a decade, Horror-Fix has covered the genre from every angle—from breaking horror news and reviews to in-depth analysis, interviews, horror history, books, games, television, independent filmmaking, and the occasional trip down a very strange rabbit hole.
We’re interested in more than simply telling you what’s coming out next. Horror has a history worth exploring, franchises worth dissecting, filmmakers worth discovering, and ideas that can keep a conversation going long after the credits roll.
More Than Horror News
Horror-Fix covers a wide range of genre entertainment, including horror movies and television, reviews, interviews, books and comics, games, independent filmmaking, practical and visual effects, franchise retrospectives, horror history, and original features and analysis.
That might mean digging into the real-world traditions behind an occult horror film one day and disappearing down a rabbit hole about the internal logic of a decades-old slasher franchise the next.
If it’s strange, frightening, fascinating, or somehow connected to horror, there’s a good chance we’re interested.
Covering Horror Since 2012
Horror-Fix launched in 2012 and has continued publishing through more than a decade of enormous change in both the horror genre and online media.
During that time, we’ve covered major studio releases, emerging filmmakers, independent productions, streaming, physical media, books, comics, games, conventions, and the constantly evolving culture surrounding horror.
The platforms may change. The obsession hasn’t.
Independent Horror Has Always Mattered Here
Horror has never belonged exclusively to major studios.
Independent filmmakers, writers, artists, performers, publishers, and creators have always been essential to the genre, and Horror-Fix has long provided a place to discover work that might otherwise struggle to receive mainstream attention.
We believe the people making horror are every bit as interesting as the monsters they create.
Who’s Behind Horror-Fix?
Ash Hamilton — Founder & Editor-in-Chief
Horror-Fix was founded by Ash Hamilton, a filmmaker, writer, and media professional with more than 25 years of experience in digital media and production.
Hamilton has directed two internationally distributed feature films, including the award-winning Holes in the Sky: The Sean Miller Story and the horror anthology Final Days: Tales from the End Times. His work has received recognition at film festivals around the world.
That experience behind the camera helps inform Horror-Fix’s approach to covering the genre. Movies aren’t simply products to score and move past. They’re creative decisions—writing, cinematography, editing, sound, performance, effects, production limitations, and sometimes wonderfully bizarre accidents—all working together.
And sometimes figuring out why something works is considerably more interesting than deciding whether it deserves seven or eight severed heads out of ten.
Horror Is a Conversation
Horror fandom has never been particularly quiet.
We don’t expect readers to agree with every review, theory, ranking, or opinion published here. In fact, some of the best conversations start when they don’t.
Horror-Fix exists as a place for those conversations: discovering new films, revisiting old ones, debating franchises, supporting independent creators, examining how horror is made, and occasionally asking questions about movies that probably no reasonable person ever intended us to ask.
That’s part of the fun.
