Womp Stomp Films Launches Kickstarter Campaign and New Trailer for Friday the 13th Fan Film “Never Hike Alone”

Womp Stomp Films is excited to announce the launch of a new Kickstarter Campaign for it’s Friday the 13th Fan Film, Never Hike Alone, on Friday, January 13, 2016,.

Director, Vincente DiSanti has partnered with Producers Barry Jay, Kyle Klein, and Daniel Evans, to create a unique, high-quality take on the Friday the 13th universe. The film will star Andrew Leigthy with DiSanti tackling the roll of the legendary Jason Voorhees.

Intended to be a 22-minute short film, Never Hike Alone will follow the story of KYLE MCLEOD (Leighty), an avid backcountry hiker who, while on a solo backpacking trip, discovers the long lost remains of CAMP CRYSTAL LAKE. Ignoring the campfire stories from his childhood, Kyle’s curious nature draws him in to see what is left of the camp, which has been closed ever since the infamous 1980 Friday the 13th murders.

Kyle’s search of the camp turns deadly when he is attacked by Camp Crystal Lake’s last remaining resident, JASON VOORHEES. Stranded alone in the middle of the wilderness with a legendary mass murderer on his heels, Kyle’s survival skills will be put to the test like never before. Will he make it out of the woods alive or become another victim of the cursed camp?

Founded in early 2016, WOMP STOMP FILMS was created by Vincente DiSanti as an avenue to pursue live-action genre entertainment. Never Hike Alone marks DiSanti’s second directorial effort after serving many years as a story consultant and directors assistant on projects such as Free Birds (2013), The Red Room (2015), Rock Dog (2017), and Duck, Duck, Goose (2017).

Playing the unlucky hiker in the film is Los Angeles based actor Andrew Leighty. A Santa Barbara native, Drew began his acting career at Santa Barbara City College in the Theatre Arts program. After transferring to Cal State Los Angeles University he continued to study theatre before eventually making his break into the entertainment industry. He’s been featured on several television shows and national commercials, however he may be known best for his modeling work for romance novels.

Womp Stomp Films had previously run a Kickstarter Campaign back in October, but fell just short of it’s goal. However, the team was able to strategize their efforts and forge on to film a majority of principle photography.

“Not hitting our goal was not ideal, but something we had to plan for. We had to give up a few bigger ideas we had and it also meant the film would take longer to make and produce.”

It was at that time the project caught the attention of screenwriter, and fitness guru, Barry Jay (The Chosen, Patient 7) who decided to step in to help produce the film. Like the crew, Barry is a life long fan for the Friday Franchise and saw tremendous potential in the direction the project was taking.

With a fundraising goal of $13,000, funding from this new campaign will allow the Womp Stomp to complete the final scenes of principle photography, which include a high quantity of special make up effects, and a variety of post production services.

“Our first campaign was certainly a lesson learned and we feel confident in the changes we made to our strategy. Feedback from our backers really played a huge part in how we rethought our approach this time around.”

In exchange for financial pledges, they’re offering a number of valuable rewards, stickers, pins, t-shirts, posters, producing credits, props from the film including Jason’s costume, and even a special guest role in the film.

“Our team has worked tremendously hard this year will no other intention than to create something special for fans of the Friday franchise. We really hope they like what they see and what type of quality we can bring to the table. We’re only getting started.”

This new trailer features consists, mostly, of never before scene footage, including the first big reveal a 30+ year old abandoned camp Womp Stomp Films has now turned into their very own Camp Crystal Lake.

“Just as we were about to start production early summer of 2016, a couple, who were allowing us to film around their property, tipped us off to the site. Once we found the camp, we knew we had to take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity. It has taken a lot of work to turn the place around, but we are excited to show off what we’ve been up to for the better part of the past year.”

As a product of Fan Fiction, Womp Stomp Films is acting independently outside the official Friday the 13th Franchise. However, DiSanti and his crew are diligent about complying with all rules set by the common fan fiction restrictions including making Never Hike Alone a non-profit venture. Upon completion of the project, they will be donating all remaining funding to the Penny Pines Reforestation Program.

A branch of the National Forest Service of California, the Penny Pines Reforestation program helps revitalize areas of our national forest that have succumb to fire and disease.

“It’s a no brainer for us. The camp and forest have practically become our second home for the past year and we want to do everything we can so that many more can enjoy it as much as we have. Aside from the donation, we also plan on renovating the camp further so hikers can enjoy a safer place to explore.”

The Kickstarter campaign for Never Hike Alone will come to a close on Friday, February 17, 2016. If you would like to support the project, you can do so by visiting this link:
