Frankenstein, Bigfoot and the Wendigo Hit the Dance Floor in ‘Graveyard Grooves’

Frankenstein, Bigfoot and the Wendigo Hit the Dance Floor in ‘Graveyard Grooves’

Independent artist Inglorious Kate brings a little monster madness to Halloween with a new album of horror-inspired dance music.

Halloween playlists are usually filled with the same familiar suspects. We’ve got “Monster Mash,” a little Michael Jackson, maybe some Rob Zombie thrown in for good measure. But what if Frankenstein, Bigfoot, and the Wendigo decided they wanted something a little more danceable?

That’s pretty much the idea behind Graveyard Grooves, a new Halloween-themed album from Pennsylvania-based independent songwriter Inglorious Kate, who describes her particular brand of music as “monster pop.”

And really, how can you not love a genre with a name like that? [Halloween Music, Inglorious Kate, Graveyard Grooves]

Released this October, Graveyard Grooves takes some of horror’s most recognizable monsters and supernatural creatures and gives them their own dance-floor treatment. Rather than leaning into the usual doom and gloom associated with horror-inspired music, Kate’s concept embraces the playful, campier side of the genre.

Among the album’s featured tracks are “Walk Like the Wendigo,” “Frankenstein’s Heart,” “Ghost in the Bassline,” and “Dracula Recruits.” It’s a lineup that sounds like the guest list for one seriously strange Halloween party.

Making Monster Music Her Own Way

There’s also an interesting creative story behind Graveyard Grooves.

Kate, who is autistic, writes and directs the creative vision for her songs while using AI-powered tools to handle the musical performances and production.

It’s an approach she openly acknowledges, explaining that the technology allows her to bring her songwriting ideas to life in a way that works for her.

And while AI-generated music continues to spark plenty of debate, Kate’s approach raises an interesting question about how these tools can help independent creators express themselves through mediums that might otherwise be difficult to access.

For Kate, the goal is straightforward: write songs about the monsters she loves and get people dancing.

A Little Something for Your Halloween Playlist

Beyond its English-language release, Graveyard Grooves also has Spanish and French versions, giving international monster lovers a chance to join the party.

Whether you’re putting together a Halloween playlist, hosting a costume party, or just looking for something a little different from the usual seasonal soundtrack, Graveyard Grooves offers a monster-themed alternative worth exploring.

The album is available now on major streaming platforms.

After all, monsters deserve a chance to cut loose every once in a while, too.
