Tehani Farr variant cover, “Carmilla Undead”
Taking inspiration from Sheridan Le Fanu’s iconic vampire femme fatale, Carmilla Unbound invites readers to travel through nearly two centuries of history as Countess Mircalla Karnstein, known by many names including Marcilla, Millarca, and Carmilla, embarks upon a perilous path of virtuous vampiric vigilantism.
Twenty-six years before Dracula cast his shadow across popular culture, there was Carmilla. Writers Clay Adams and D.E. Schrader envisioned her surviving the novella’s events and moving through history as a sort of vampire Dexter. Touting “sex, violence, and literary merit,” and infused with a “gothic grindhouse” aesthetic, Carmilla has an appetite for seduction and a talent for destruction. With no compromises, no limits, and no one to answer to, she navigates the centuries through a series of pivotal flashpoints that shape her destiny and redefine the mythology of one of horror’s most enduring icons.
Carmilla Unbound: 1698-1875 Multiple ORiginGASMs delves deep into the untold backstory of Carmilla Karnstein, exploring the events, choices, and transformations that forged the world’s first literary vampire into a force of terror and liberation.
The campaign will feature an exceptional lineup of collectible covers from acclaimed artists Tehani Farr, Mexifunk, Josephine Tomarchio, Andrea Dailey, and Sketch Aesthetics, along with a special cosplay cover featuring Daria Hime.
With Bloodline Comics continuing to build momentum among horror and independent comics fans, Carmilla Unbound represents a daring reimagining of vampire lore that blends Gothic horror, historical fiction, sensuality, and blood-soaked action into a unique reading experience. ]
Fans of classic horror, vampire fiction, and creator-driven independent comics are encouraged to follow the campaign and join Bloodline Comics as it uncovers the many origins of the woman who started it all.
