Bunny the Killer Thing is half human and half rabbit which haunts anything that resembles the female genitals. That’s the idea behind the new Finnish horror-comedy feature film. Hilarious, with a good dose of gore and nudity, Bunny the Killer has all the trappings of a cult classic in the making. Now in post-production, the film will start touring the festival circuit in the spring of 2015, beginning at the Cannes Film Market in May. A Finnish cinema release is slated for November 2015. It features a predominantly Finnish cast, along with a couple of British and Irish actors.
Bunny the Killer Thing was written and directed by Joonas Makkonen. The young film maker from Lapland in Finland has with his team gained previous successes from various international time limited film races. 28-year-old Makkonen has directed short films such as Peto, Case Rabbit and Renewing Mikael. Bunny the Killer Thing, based on a short film of the same title, was filmed in the
winter of 2014 mainly in a small town called Puolanka in the area of Kainuu in East Finland. The short film was also written and directed by the same director which won Best Creature Award in Cinefantasy International Fantastic Film Festival in 2011 at São Paulo.
Produced by Miika J. Norvanto (Black Lion Pictures Ltd) and co-produced by Jo-Jo the Dog Films and Bottomland Productions, the production is also supported among others by Cloudberry Services, Kainuu Vocational College, Oulu University of Applied Sciences and the City of Puolanka.
