Award-Winning Horror Short Beyond the Moonlight Now Streaming Free on YouTube
An intense dance rehearsal takes a terrifying turn in Beyond the Moonlight, an award-winning horror thriller short film from filmmaker Natalie Rodriguez, now available to watch on YouTube.
Written, directed, produced, and executive produced by Rodriguez, founder of Extraordinary Pictures, Beyond the Moonlight explores the darker side of ambition, family, and the unsettling secrets lurking beneath an intense training regimen.
The story follows a reserved dancer who begins to uncover the disturbing truth behind her sister’s brutal rehearsals. What initially appears to be preparation for a performance turns out to be something far more sinister.
The film’s official logline reads:
“During a brutal dance rehearsal, a reserved dancer uncovers the disturbing truth behind her sister’s intense training. It is not for a performance… but for something far more terrifying.”
From Award-Winning Short to Potential Horror Series
Beyond its release as a standalone short film, Beyond the Moonlight is also serving as a proof of concept for a larger project.
According to Rodriguez, the creative team is currently pitching the property for both a traditional television pilot and a vertical series adaptation, potentially expanding the story beyond its original short-film format.
The project has already earned awards during its run, and its availability on streaming platforms gives horror fans an opportunity to discover the film as its creators pursue the next stage of development.

Rodriguez also has another horror-related project on the horizon. The upcoming novel adaptation of Inner Child, a psychological horror feature currently in development, is scheduled for release on December 4.
Additional information about that project is available through the official Inner Child page.
With Beyond the Moonlight now available to audiences and plans underway to expand its story, the short represents another example of independent horror filmmakers using proof-of-concept projects to develop larger productions.
And for horror fans looking for something new to watch this Halloween weekend, there’s no better time to give this one a look.
