The horror genre often garners a wide range of opinions, and sometimes critically acclaimed films fail to work for all viewers, or just me. They don’t work for me. Here are ten horror movies that, despite the praise, just suck!
1. “Get Out” (2017)
Jordan Peele’s debut was lauded for its social commentary and originality, but its focus on it’s “message” made it feel more like 90 minutes of propaganda. The horror elements were completely overshadowed, making it less horror and more bore. Would you like a second opinion?
2. “House of 1000 Corpses” (2003)
Rob Zombie’s directorial debut gained a cult following and critical praise for its gritty style. In reality it was simply a chaotic kill fest where only evil stands a chance to survive. It relies on shock value and gore over a coherent story and genuine scares.
3. “Skinamarink” (2022)
This experimental horror film received praise for its unique style and atmosphere. Its fucking doors, windows, and hallways. That’s it. There’s nothing else to the movie. Fuck this movie! I want my money back! Would you like to know more?
4. “Halloween Ends” (2022)
As the concluding chapter of a beloved horror franchise, “Halloween Ends” was highly anticipated, but a complete and utter let down. I could go on for a while on why this one sucks. So instead I’ll just say it didn’t deliver the expected thrills or satisfying conclusion. The storyline seemed disjointed and uninspired.
5. “Jeepers Creepers” (2001)
While initially praised for its unique monster and tense opening scenes, the film falls apart in the second half, becoming more cliché and less frightening. The only redeeming thing in the film is Justin Long. You’re always great Justin!
6. “The Outwaters” (2022)
This found footage film gained attention for its unconventional approach, but it’s disjointed storytelling or complete lack of storytelling just made it a disappointing experience. Seriously, what the fuck is this film even about? Horror-fix’s very own Ash Hamilton, said it better HERE.
7. “Hellraiser” (2022)
The reboot of the classic horror franchise was anticipated by many, but despite some critical praise, it failed to capture the original’s terrifying essence, leaving fans unimpressed with its execution and character development. MEH! Stop doing this to the classics! Leave them alone.
8. “The Exorcist: Believer” (2023)
Despite being part of the iconic *Exorcist* franchise (which still leaves me terrified) and receiving some critical acclaim, this installment fell flat due to its lackluster plot, unlikeable characters and inability to recapture the original’s terror. It’s got nothing on the O.G..
9. “*X” (2022)
Praised for its homage to classic slasher films and strong performances, Ti West’s “X” was just slow and lacking in real scares, with more focus on style than substance. It feels more like TEMU presents Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
10. “The Uninvited” (2009)
This psychological horror film, a remake of the South Korean movie “A Tale of Two Sisters”, was praised for its twists and atmosphere but there is no comparison to the masterpiece that is the original. The Korean’s do this shit better.
Yeah horror is a subjective genre and critics are stupid. These movies suck like your mom on a Tuesday night. Don’t take my word on any of it though. Go watch every single one of these movies for yourself. Except Skinamarink, don’t watch that one.

Sounds like you may not be aware of the difference between being critically acclaimed and being enjoyed by the horror community; two entirely different things. The Uninvited, The Exorcist: Believer, Halloween Ends, Jeepers Creepers, and Ho1kC aren’t exactly “critically acclaimed.”
