Paul Myers to Drink First in a Series of Sickening Smoothies for Horror Short Film Kickstarter
In order to promote the Kickstarter campaign for his new horror film, “Subdivision,” today at 2pmET, writer-director Paul Myers (Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, Southern Belles) will drink the first in a series of progressively awful smoothies on FaceBook Live. The film will star Mitra Jouhari (The Big Sick, Broad City) as an unwelcome newcomer to a suburb that quickly becomes a dark and dangerous maze as she jogs through its eerily identical streets. Myers has partnered with his Full Frontal colleagues, Sophie Eisenstat and Julie Levitsky, and the team will begin production in the fall.
In celebration of surpassing the $5,000 mark, today’s smoothie will contain milk, red wine, and grapefruit. As the campaign reaches higher fundraising checkpoints, the smoothies will contain increasingly appalling ingredients, including a blended mackerel and three items to be determined by a poll among donors. The filmmaker will drink all concoctions on Facebook Live. According to Myers, “I’m obsessed with movies, and if humiliating myself by drinking a fish shake allows me to shoot even one frame then it will be worth it.”
