Crossed Finally Has a Teaser: Everything We Know About the Movie
The long-discussed Garth Ennis adaptation has actual footage, an intriguing director, and a cast. So when do we get to see it?
For years, a Crossed movie has sounded like the kind of project horror fans discuss with equal parts excitement and disbelief.
Someone is really going to put that on a screen?
Now there is something concrete to talk about. The first teaser for the adaptation arrived on October 8, 2026, debuting through Bloody Disgusting. For anyone who has followed the project’s long journey, footage is a considerable step beyond another announcement.
But a teaser also raises questions. Which comics is the film adapting? Who is making it? And has anyone actually announced when we can watch the thing?
What Is Crossed About?
Created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Jacen Burrows, Crossed began at Avatar Press in 2008. Its central nightmare is a pandemic that leaves infected people with a distinctive cross-shaped facial rash and drives them to act on their most vicious impulses.
The important distinction: these people retain their intelligence. That makes the premise especially unsettling. A monster that can think, communicate, and deliberately exploit someone else’s vulnerability presents a different kind of threat from a shuffling corpse.
The movie follows survivors Stan and Cindy and a group trying to escape north through this devastated world. Today’s teaser coverage confirms that basic setup.
Our interest lies in what that does to the survival story. Staying alive is one problem. Preserving any sense of humanity while surrounded by people who have abandoned theirs is another.
Garth Ennis Wrote the Screenplay
Ennis is writing the adaptation of his own work. As reported when the project was announced in August 2024, the screenplay draws from the original 2008–2010 series he made with Burrows.
That gives readers a useful answer about the source material: the starting point is the original saga, rather than an attempt to combine the franchise’s many subsequent stories into one movie.
Creator involvement is encouraging, although it cannot tell us how successfully the finished film will translate the comic. That verdict still requires seeing the movie.
The Sadness Director Rob Jabbaz Is Behind the Camera
Rob Jabbaz, the filmmaker behind The Sadness, was announced as director in January 2025. His attachment makes this a particularly interesting project for fans of extreme horror.
Jabbaz’s stated intention was a faithful adaptation with some new surprises, according to the director announcement.
That is a promising ambition. It also leaves the big creative question open: what does “faithful” mean when the source material has a reputation this extreme? Reproducing shocking images and making them function within a feature-length story are different challenges.
The same early reporting put the planned budget between $2 million and $3 million. That is an announced estimate, not a verified final production cost.
Who Is in the Crossed Cast?
Devin Druid plays Stan, with Ash Santos as Cindy. The announced ensemble also includes Kyla Hee as Kelly, Chido Nwokocha as Kitrick, Spenser Granese as Brett, Bob Morley as Randall, Ana Mulvoy-Ten as Sheena, Steven Hack as Geoff, and Lorenzo Ross as Patrick. Ethan Jones Romero is also part of the cast.
On the infected side, Owen Harn plays the notoriously named Horsecock, alongside Fedor Steer as Face and Kelvin Adekunle as Stump. Those names should settle at least one question for original-series readers: recognizable comic characters are making the transition.
Has Crossed Finished Filming?
Yes. July 2025 reporting confirmed that principal photography had finished and the movie was in post-production. Six Studios finances the project, with Carl Choi, Ben Hung, and Ken Levin producing.
That matters after such a long wait. This adaptation has progressed beyond a screenplay and intentions to shoot.
Why Have Fans Been Waiting So Long?
The screen ambitions predate this production by years. Reporting from an Ennis panel in October 2012 described plans for webisodes that could eventually lead to a feature.
Those earlier plans should be distinguished from the Six Studios film announced in 2024. They do, however, explain why longtime readers might greet today’s teaser with a relieved “finally.”
Watch the First Crossed Teaser
The teaser is age-restricted. You can watch the Crossed teaser on YouTube; viewing may require signing in.
We would treat this as an introduction, rather than proof that the adaptation has nailed every aspect of the comic. It establishes that the promotional campaign has begun. The finished movie will have to answer the harder questions about characters, pacing, and how far the material goes.
When Does Crossed Come Out?
As of October 8, 2026, a confirmed release date remains unannounced in the coverage reviewed for this article. Today’s reporting also leaves the world premiere location unresolved. We have not verified a distribution deal or streaming destination.
An age-restricted teaser does not establish the film’s eventual theatrical rating, either. Until those details are announced, a platform, release year, or promise of an uncut edition should not be treated as settled.
Why Crossed Is Worth Watching Closely
Ennis adapting his own story, Jabbaz directing, and footage finally reaching the public give horror fans plenty to discuss.
For us, the real test will be whether the film makes its survivors matter. Shock can grab attention. Caring about the people trapped inside the nightmare is what can make that shock linger.
Are you ready for a Crossed movie, or is this one comic you would rather leave on the page? And does having the director of The Sadness involved raise your expectations?
