Craig Sheffer stars in Widow’s Point, Gregory Lamberson’s film adaptation of the book by Richard and Billy Chizmar.
Widow’s Point, the feature film adaptation of the critically acclaimed supernatural book by Richard and Billy Chizmar, is hurdling across the post-production finish line. Craig Sheffer (Nightbreed, One Tree Hill) stars in the chiller adapted and directed by Gregory Lamberson (Slime City, Johnny Gruesome), which Tamar Lamberson produced, and Richard Chizmar and Erin Elizabeth Heald executive produced.
Sheffer plays Thomas Livingston, a down on his luck author who spends a weekend locked in a haunted lighthouse as a publicity stunt to promote his next book. As he uncovers the lighthouse’s terrifying history, Livingston becomes a target for powerful, otherworldly forces hell bent on his destruction. KateLynn E. Newberry, Dominic Luongo, Kaelin Lamberson, John Renna, Richard Satterwhite, and Willow Xylia Anwar co-star, with Billy Chizmar portraying one of the lighthouse’s victims. The film was shot in and around Buffalo, New York last August, including at the Dunkirk Historical Lighthouse and Veterans Park Museum.
“Richard has helped produce some of my other films,” says writer-director Lamberson, “and for a few years we’ve discussed collaborating on a project together creatively. He sent me a pre-publication copy of the book he wrote with his son Billy, and I immediately saw a chance to make something scary that would allow me to pay homage to some of my biggest inspirations, like Salem’s Lot, Ghost Story and Dark Shadows. We were really fortunate that Craig agreed to star, because he delivered a bravura performance that people will remember for a long time.”
“Greg accomplished what every novelist hopes for from a director/screenwriter,” says Chizmar, “he made the original work so much better. He expanded the story (and back story) of Widow’s Point with wisdom and flair, and made it scarier and smarter. Billy and I had a blast on set and left for home feeling inspired and excited by the passionate work of the cast and crew.”
Armand John Petri and Joe Rozler are currently scoring the film, which features special visual effects by Chris Cosgrave and John David Vincent, and special makeup effects by Kate Sharun. Petri and Piazza are associate producers, along with Bruce and Vicki Liebowitz. The producers anticipate seeking distribution early in 2019.
