- Sharknado: As The Asylum’s best known film, this global phenomenon took social media by storm, transforming the studio from a niche B-movie outfit into a mainstream, viral pop-culture brand. When a tornado hits LA and sharks start raining down on the city, citizens must fight tooth and tail for survival.
- Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies: This genre mash-up was a huge hit for discerning fans who were sold on the idea of the greatest president in American history facing off against the undead, amidst the Civil War.
- Titanic II: A streaming cult favourite. Same ship, same mistakes, plus a tsunami and anything else the studio decided to throw at it.

- Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus: This major monster mash-up was the viral precursor to Sharknado and does exactly what it says on the tin.
- Clash of the Empires: Originally called Age of the Hobbits, it sparked major controversy leading to trademark lawsuit and a federal injunction from Warner Bros. that forced an historic last-minute title change.
- Almighty Thor: The company ingeniously exploited a legal loophole by using public-domain Norse mythology to stay immune to Marvel’s lawyers for this all-budget-action hero movie.
- Snakes on a Train: Same slithery creatures, new mode of transport in this studio hit. A Mayan curse and a train to LA overrun with flesh-eating snakes, what’s not to like?
- Atlantic Rim: Inspired by Guillermo del Toro’s cinematic great, The Asylum’s sci-fi spin later achieved peak bad-movie status when it featured on Mystery Science Theatre 3000.
- The Day the Earth Stopped: Reaching peak mockbuster cheek, The Asylum released the film just days before The Day the Earth Stood Still remake starring Keanu Reeves, which prompted a cease-and-desist from Fox, but guess what? The B-movie masters found a legal loophole… and the Earth kept spinning.
Bonus Fun Fact
King of the Ants: Bringing it back to the beginning, before The Asylum became the kings of mockbusters, this landmark film – based on a book by Brit author/comedian and directed by genre giant Stuart Gordon – was The Asylum’s first in house production and took a more serious approach, following a young drifter who discovers his true calling when he is hired to murder a man he has never met, leaving a trail of bodies in his wake.
