For those of us who were born before the internet age, the name Fangoria is spoken with near holy reverence. As a young horror nerd it was my only connection to that world. I would haunt the local drugstores and bookstores scouring the shelves for the newest issue.
Fast forward over 30 years later and the name has had its fair share of hard times, The monthly magazine went through several regime changes until it was certain that its fate was relegated to the back room stacks at discount book stores. Bizarre it is to find out then that the publication will finally be receiving its revival later this year. The magazine will apparently be getting the quarterly publication treatment after being purchased by Texas based company Cinestate whose CEO has producer credits on the critically acclaimed Bone Tomahawk as well as the upcoming Puppet Master franchise reboot. Word also has it that one-time editor Tony Timpone will still have a degree of involvement as well as Michael Gingold.
That’s good news for us horror fans who won’t forget the little magazine that brought us the good ole red stuff through some of our better decades!!!
