Dawna Lee Heising Wins “Best Shakespearean Actress” for “Dark Classics” at King Bassey’s 2019 LANFA Film Festival Awards

Heising’s Act 5, Scene 1 Monologue as Lady Macbeth Is Featured in Filmmaker Brian Barsuglia’s Documentary “A Bard for All Ages: Shakespeare’s Timeless Effect”

“Dark Classics” had the great honor of being an Official Selection of King Bassey’s esteemed 2019 Los Angeles Nollywood Film Association (LANFA) International Film Festival, and Dawna Lee Heising won Best Shakespearean Actress for the short film.  The LANFA International Awards Ceremony was held at the Miracle Theater in Inglewood on August 4, 2019. Acclaimed filmmaker and Founder of LANFA King Bassey hosted the packed event, and publicity was handled by the Williamson Management Company.

Director Craig Railsback filmed Heising performing the Act 5, Scene 1 monologue by Lady Macbeth from Shakespeare’s classic play “Macbeth” for the dramatic short film “Dark Classics”.  Heising’s performance as Lady Macbeth was originally filmed and directed by Railsback as part of filmmaker Brian Barsuglia’s 2019 documentary “A Bard for the Ages: Shakespeare’s Timeless Effect”, and was later released as “Dark Classics”.  “Dark Classics” was edited by Dr. Renah Wolzinger, and produced by Heising, Railsback, Dr. Wolzinger, Keith Wolzinger, Dan Kennedy and Sean Glumace.  Dr. Wolzinger is the CEO of Renzone Music, and Railsback is the CEO of Railsback Productions. Heising trained for her performance with actress, musician and playwright Karole Foreman, who is an expert on Shakespeare and recently wrote the musical “Rule My World”, based on Shakespeare’s “Antony and Cleopatra”.  Heising will soon play Anger in Param Gill’s “Bad President”, with Eddie Griffin, Jeff Rector and Robert Amico. She will also reprise her role as Skye in John Reign’s big-budget “Finding Purpose 2”, following the critically acclaimed release of the heartwarming war film “Finding Purpose” from Polestar Studios. 

Dustin Ferguson’s psychological thriller “Moon of the Blood Beast” was also a winner at the 2019 LANFA Film Festival Awards, and Ferguson performed his new single “Facts$” as rapper Dirty D.  Ferguson won Best Director, Psychological Thriller, Vida Ghaffari won Best Actress, Psychological Thriller, and Alana Evans won Best Supporting Actress, Psychological Thriller for “Moon of the Blood Beast”.  Heising played Bernadette in the film.

Heising is also featured in action superstar J.J. Stomp’s “The Bodyguard” and “In3Dragon”.  The action-packed trailer for “In3Dragon” from Lao Hollywood won Best Trailer at the 2019 LANFA Film Festival Awards.
