Cult Animation THE OLD MAN MOVIE to be screened at upcoming EFM in Berlin |
After an extremely successful screening at the latest Fantasia film festival, Estonian midnight-cult animation movie THE OLD MAN MOVIE reaches the European Film Market of Berlin, where it will be screened on the 3rd of March.
Produced by Estonian animation company BOP Animation and Apollo Film Productions, THE OLD MAN MOVIE (VANAMEHE FILM) is based on a well known Estonian web series. Directed by Mikk Mägi and Oskar Lehemaa, this stop-motion animated delight is an inter-generational epic road movie evolving around…. milk! The protagonist, the Old Man, is a farmer visited by his grandkids in the countryside. The kids set loose his abused cow, and they will have just 24 hours to recover the bovine before her un-milked udder explodes. On their journey, they will face bears, hippies, sawmill workers and giant milking robots.
Unhinged, transgressive and shocking, this animated movie may not be for kids, but for sure it’s lots of fun for adults. The movie won the Silver Audience Award and the Kon Satoshi Award for Best Animation at the latest edition of Fantasia Film Festival, and the Audience Award at Anima 2020 in Belgium. It has been screened at the most important film festivals worldwide, including Sitges, Annecy, Fantaspoa, Shanghai IFF and many others.
EuroObscura is handling the international sales for THE OLD MAN MOVIE in Berlin. The EFM will host a virtual only edition this year, due to the Coronavirus restrictions.
