88 Films Announces
Duel To The Death and She Shoots Straight

Classic Martial Arts and Gun-Fu Films
Make Their North American Blu-ray Premiers on February 24

88 Films is proud to announce the North American Blu-ray premiers of two classic Hong Kong films, Duel To The Death and She Shoots Straight, on Feb. 24.

Duel To The Death features a match between the best swordsman from China and Japan’s finest samurai during the 16th century, while She Shoots Straight pits a modern Hong Kong policewoman against deadly Vietnamese gangsters. Both limited edition releases feature brand new 2K restorations from the original negatives and are loaded with bonus content.

Duel To The Death, the legendary and lethal Hong Kong wuxia classic, exposes the fiercest competition in history. The greatest swordsmen of China and Japan meet every ten years to determine which country reigns supreme. The upcoming battle matches two men with completely different sensibilities. Chinese champion Ching Wan (Norman Chui, Bastard Swordsman) has a spiritual approach to his swordplay, having studied with numerous noble Shaolin monks and a colorful hermit. The Japanese challenger, Hashimoto (Damian Lau, Zu Warriors from the Magic Mountain), is a fierce samurai warrior who receives a shocking final lesson from his sensei. The clash for national pride encounters a major conspiracy to rig the outcome by unscrupulous characters from both countries. Can Ching Wan and Hashimoto keep their bloody finale untainted by outside influences and interference?

Directed by Ching Siu-tung (A Chinese Ghost Story), Duel To the Death overflows with gravity-defying sword fights, exploding ninja warriors, a bare assassin, and plenty of deceitful intrigue.

The special features include the remastered original Cantonese monaural soundtrack; a 5.1 DTS-HD MA Cantonese re-mix; an English dub option; optional English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing; an O-Ring slip case; audio commentary with Asian Cinema Expert Frank Djeng; archival interviews with actors Norman Chui Siu-keung and Flora Cheung; alternate English credits; an image gallery; the original Hong Kong trailer; and a reconstructed Tai Seng trailer.

She Shoots Straight is a Hong Kong police action masterpiece with inspector Mina Kao (Joyce Godenzi, Eastern Condors & Paper Marriage) at its center, a lifelong member of a police family who becomes even more deeply bound to that world after marrying Inspector Huang Tsung-pao (Tony Leung, Prison on Fire). The couple’s honeymoon is delayed when Mina gets assigned to protect a visiting princess at a fashion show which turns into a bloody kidnapping attempt. Her next big case involves a tip that a major nightclub will be robbed. Mina and her undercover female police force engage in a massive shoot-out with a vicious Vietnamese gang led by Yuan Hua (Yuen Wah, Kung Fu Hustle). The surviving members seek revenge on the police using jungle warfare techniques in an overwhelming ambush. This leads to an unfathomable tragedy within the police department. Can Mina recover from her heartbreak to track down the killers?

Directed by Corey Yeun (Yes, Madam) and produced by Sammo Hung, She Shoots Straight is a fully loaded police family drama with ballistic destruction, death defying stunts, and intense emotions.

The special features include the remastered original Cantonese monaural soundtrack; an English dub option; optional English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing; an O-Ring slip case; audio commentary with Asian Cinema Expert Frank Djeng; alternate English credits; an image gallery; and the original Hong Kong trailer.
