Even though we are at the end of the Halloween season, there is always more horror to watch! So let’s keep it going fuckers and talk about Harley Wallen’s, The Devils Left Hand.
The story revolves around a ginger named Richie, who killed his abusive father. Then there is also his girlfriend or wife or girlfriend … I believe I missed who she is. Then there is his mother, who is slowly losing her mind or has lost her mind. There’s also Richie’s closest friends, but I can’t even remember their names. And of course a demon or multiple demon’s, or one that has many forms? There’s a book at some point. OK what I’m getting at is maybe there could be less character’s.
It wouldn’t be a Harley Wallen movie without a couple/few interesting characters. My personal favorites are Zebula, played by the man himself (Harley Wallen). I have to admit I want to see way more of the demon fighting man in the duster. His demon fighting partner Miss Vesna (Aphrodite Nikolovski) is another stand out and I don’t just say that because of her extremely small nightwear… although I’m not saying it didn’t help. It helped. Last but not least the odd and mercurial Detective Blackwell played by Troy Randall-Kilpatrick brought a satisfying eccentricity.
The film definitely has some solid performances. Yan Birch as Father Stann is creepy and powerful. Lorene Landon was wonderfully tortured. Kaiti Wallen was genuine and natural as Cassidy. This was my favorite performance of hers to date. Chevonne Wilson as Nurse Katherine is definitely my vote for best supporting actress. She steals every scene she’s
I know, I know, I didn’t talk about too many details of this film, but if I give you everything there’s nothing for you to do. The movie is well shot, decent special effects and acceptable music. There are some ups and downs in this one. I believe there are some pacing issues and some scenes that could have been cut completely, except any scene with Aphrodite Nikolovski, those all stay. I’m going to tell you the same thing I always do. Watch this movie for yourself and you decide. I’m not your mommy!
