From the press release:
“October 14th, 2019 marks the 25th anniversary of the release of the classic film, and mega-popular sequel in a beloved franchise, Wes Craven’s New Nightmare! To celebrate this milestone, and to honor the memory of Mr. Craven himself, Cecil Laird (of The Horror Show Channel on YouTube) has teamed up with horror fan film experts Vincente DiSanti (Never Hike Alone & Never Hike in the Snow) & Rene Rivas (The Spirit of Haddonfield), to bring you Dylan’s New Nightmare, a new short film set within the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise.
Dylan’s New Nightmare acts as an unofficial sequel to Wes Craven’s New Nightmare and takes place 25 years after the original film. It follows Dylan Porter, the child of Heather Langenkamp in the New Nightmare, as he is faced with the return of the evil entity that took his mother from him all those years ago. Oh, and Miko Hughes himself is returning to again play the part of Dylan! Miko will be joined by Toronto-based voice actor Dave Mcrae, who will be filling the enormous work boots of Freddy Krueger himself in the film. Dave is a wonderful addition to the project and will lend not only the creepiest Freddy voice since Robert Englund himself, but also the physicality that comes with being everyone’s favorite Dream Master.
The group released a teaser trailer today for the fan film, promising both a great story set in Craven’s original continuity, as well as a whole new look for Freddy. This new look not only includes a brand new face for Mcrae’s Krueger designed by FaceOff Season 9 winner Nora Hewitt (who will be providing the film’s special makeup & gore effects), but also a brand new glove designed by Mark Phillips of Nightmares Unlimited.
The short film will run between 20 and 30 minutes in length but in order to cobble this whole project together, they need the fans’ help! We will be utilizing Indiegogo to work with true Nightmare fans in order to bring this vision to life. The filmmaking team will do so by offering a variety of exclusive perks to be taken advantage of by perspective backers. All funds raised will go towards covering the cost of the perks and paying for costs associated with the short film itself. The perks range from an exclusive Blu-Ray or VHS of the film, to a replica of our original Freddy glove, to many more completely unique collectibles provided as a thank you for contributing to the film. The campaign for Dylan’s New Nightmare is now live, and is aiming to raise $25,000 in an effort to create the coolest Nightmare on Elm Street fan film ever made—one that would truly make Wes Craven, a true horror maestro, proud!
Dylan’s New Nightmare is a not-for-profit Nightmare on Elm Street fan project created by Cecil Laird Productions, Womp Stomp Films & Rene Rivas Productions. They, and the project, are in no way affiliated with New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Entertainment, the Craven Estate, or any other Nightmare on Elm Street franchise rights holders. Any excess funds raised will be donated to the National Audubon Society, one of Mr. Craven’s favorite causes. The link to the campaign is here:
Thank you for covering our upcoming fan film project. We are thrilled to bring Miko back into his original role as “Dylan”
