“You’re Next” director, Adam Wingard hails new horror doc director as the “Ken Burns of scary documentaries”

The latest release from indie film company, Small Town Monsters, takes an investigative look into encounters with a wolflike creature near the town of Elkhorn, WI during the early 90s. Titled, The Bray Road Beast, the film also uncovers a history of sightings of similar creatures around the world. Speaking with local witnesses, investigators and government officials who investigated the sightings, director, Seth Breedlove was able to unlock a multitude of possible unnerving stories as well as likely explanations; from misidentified bear to underground satanic cults.

The Bray Road Beast premiered at HorrorHound Indianapolis and took honors at Hot Springs International Horror Film Festival. It will continue to play the film festival circuit throughout the Fall and into next year. The documentary was released on streaming platforms such as Amazon, Vimeo OnDemand and VIDI Space and within 48 hours had ascended to the top 20 best selling new released on Amazon. It currently sits as the number #2 new release movie in Horror (ahead of Mandy, Ghost Stories and Hereditary) and #2 movie in the documentary genre. Ahead of the official release it has seen acclaim from Blair Witchdirector Adam Wingard who said “The Bray Road Beast solidifies Seth Breedlove as the Ken Burns of scary, cryptozoological documentaries” while web journalist, Adam Benedict proclaimed the film “equal parts Unsolved Mysteries, drive-in creature feature, real life Grimm’s Fairy Tale and a midwestern look at the “satanic panic” of the late 80’s and early 90’s” before giving it a five-star rating.

“Bray Road” was funded through a Kickstarter campaign launched early this year and was made for under twelve thousand dollars.

The Bray Road Beast reunites the Small Town Monsters crew of director, Seth Breedlove, cinematographer, Zac Palmisano, sound designer, Jason Utes, and composers Brandon Dalo (The Mothman of Point Pleasant) and Chris Dudley (Underoath) with author and musician, Lyle Blackburn who will narrate the film. Blackburn previously narrated the Small Town Monsters productions, The Mothman of Point Pleasant and Boggy Creek Monster. Mark Matzke co-writes while Adrienne Breedlove acts as a producer. The titular “beast” will appear onscreen in dramatic, animated sequences, as well as live-action recreations with a number of different creature designs by Chris Scalf and Santino Vitale.

Small Town Monsters has already begun work on their “Bray Road” followup, Terror in the Skies which investigates sightings of the Mothman in Chicago.
