PESTILENCE Brings a Disturbing Tale of Revenge and Psychological Horror to Steam October 15

Kooky Studios’ first-person psychological horror game traps players inside a nightmarish bunker where the line between victim and monster begins to blur.

How far would you go to find justice for your missing daughter? And what happens when the monster you’re hunting might actually be you?

That’s the chilling premise behind Pestilence, an upcoming first-person psychological horror game from independent developer Kooky Studios, arriving on Steam on October 15, 2026.

A Father’s Worst Nightmare

In March 2001, your daughter calls you from a payphone along Route 9. It’s the last time you hear from her. She never makes it home.

Two years later, you’re an ex-military father consumed by grief and revenge. You’ve captured the man responsible for her disappearance and imprisoned him in an underground bunker, inside a cell you constructed yourself.

But something has gone terribly wrong.

You awaken trapped inside your own creation, suffering from severe memory loss. The bunker that was supposed to hold your daughter’s abductor has become your prison, and the deeper you investigate, the more unsettling the truth becomes.

Are you hunting a monster, or are you trapped with the monster you’ve become?

A Claustrophobic Descent Into Madness

Rather than throwing players into sprawling environments, Pestilence confines its horrors to a single underground facility, emphasizing isolation, psychological tension, and environmental storytelling.

Players must explore the bunker, restore power by repairing generators and electrical systems, manipulate machinery, solve mechanical puzzles, and search computers and audio recordings for clues about what happened.

Each discovery promises to peel back another layer of the protagonist’s fractured memories, gradually revealing the disturbing secrets buried within the facility.

With its morally ambiguous story, oppressive atmosphere, and focus on psychological dread, Pestilence looks to deliver the kind of horror that stays with players long after they’ve put down the controller.

Pestilence is scheduled to launch on PC via Steam on October 15, 2026, with playable demos available for those looking to experience the nightmare ahead of release.

Fans of atmospheric, story-driven psychological horror can visit the game’s official Steam page to learn more and add it to their wishlists.

Some prisons are built to keep monsters inside. Others are built to keep the truth from getting out.
